Ao Phang Nga (Phang Nga Bay) National Park covers the areas in Takua Thung district, Koh Yao district and Mueang Phang Nga district. Consisting of many beautiful large and small islands,  Ao Phang Nga National Park is world renowned for the white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Besides rich natural beauties, archaeological sites have been found in the areas which are believed to be more than a thousand years old. The remaining material evidences for pre-historic human activity include pre-historic paintings on the cliff, stone tools, pottery, etc.

How to get there

There are 2 route options;

1. From Bangkok, take Highway No. 4, passing the provinces of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, and Ranong, then drive straight to Phang Nga town, a total distance of 788 kms. The trip takes around 12 hours.

2. From Bangkok, take Highway No.4 to Chumphon. Then take Highway No. 41 to Tha Chang sub-district, Surat Thani province, go straight and make a right turn into Highway No. 401, keep driving until you reach Ban Ta Khun sub-district, Surat Thani province, and then take Highway No. 415 passing Thap Put district, Phang Nga province and drive straight to Phang Nga town.

There are standard buses and air-conditioned buses operated by The Transport Company Limited and by private bus companies from Bangkok to Phang Nga departing from Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) on Borommaratchachonnani Road every day. Take Highway No.4 from Phang-nga Town and keep driving south about 3 km to Ao Phang Nga National Park then turn left to Highway No. 4144. Continue driving for about 3 km and then you will arrive at the National Park’s pier. For more information contact Ao Phang-Nga National Park, tel: 076481188.
